“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time” – Dr. Maya Angelou
As a Cornell student and eventually an alum, you will have many opportunities to interact with dining companions ranging from fellow students, to professors, to prospective employers and maybe even a Fortune 100 CEO or a head of state. Such interactions can have a significant effect on your professional and even personal life. To bring your best to those interactions, you must be prepared with an understanding of how to make an outstanding first impression, how to share your personal story for impact, how to make another person feel comfortable and valued in conversation by listening and contributing effectively, and how to observe the proper dining etiquette (including how you to treat the restaurant staff).
In this highly interactive dinner workshop, you will:
- Practice the art of active listening
- Identify ways of communicating your story and networking while dining
- Learn proper table manners
- Discover how to gather information from potential network connections during social events
- Learn how to conduct effective follow-up to build upon the relationships established through a shared dining experience.
